Hey there parents. Happy Friday!

* Our track team has their final triangular today at Nebraska City at 4 PM. The remaining two meets will be Invites (Friday, May 2 at Plattsmouth and Friday, May 9 at Ashland in the Trailblazer Conference).
 
* Top results from Tuesday’s triangular at Louisville are attached.
 
* Our National Junior Honor Society induction ceremony is on Monday, May 5, at 6 PM. This will take place in the PHS auditorium.
 
* Below is a Nebraska Extension 4-H summer camp opportunity if interested. Looks like a fun experience!

Good morning, parents!

 
* Our track team will compete at Louisville this afternoon for a 4 PM triangular. Top results are attached from last Thursday’s storm-shortened PC triangular.
 
* The NSCAS Science test will take place in 8th grade tomorrow (in science classes). Please be prepared with good rest and breakfast.
 
* Tomorrow is Admin Professionals Day. Thanks to Tren and Leah for their role at the office while keeping our school running smoothly!
 
* WRESTLING MEETING TOMORROW:
Who: All 8th-11th grade boys and girls
What: summer expectations and wrestling opportunities
When: Wednesday, April 23rd at 7:15am
Where: Mr Craney’s room at PHS
 
* OPAA!, our food service provider, will meet with Mrs. Scanlan’s Advisory students on Thursday to share and discuss breakfast options. The purpose is to receive feedback about the breakfast menu. Samples will be provided. The OPAA invite flier is attached. Parents are welcome to attend.

Track Today; NSCAS Math; NO SCHOOL

Hello parents and happy Monday!

 
* Our track athletes are headed to Ashland-Greenwood this afternoon for a 4 PM quadrangular. On Thursday, we are back home for a triangular at 4 PM.
 
* Our NSCAS Math test will take place tomorrow and Wednesday. Testing will be done in Mr. Lusienski’s classroom in grade 7 and Mr. Wills’ classroom in grade 8. Eat a good breakfast and give a great effort!
* NO SCHOOL on Friday, April 18, and Monday, April 21. Classes resume on Tuesday, April 22, at 8:10 AM.

* The track team had a successful first outing of the season yesterday at our home invite. Congrats to those who placed in their event(s). See attached.
 
* There is NO SCHOOL on Friday, April 18, and Monday, April 21. Classes will resume on Tuesday, April 22, at 8:10 AM, as we hit the home stretch of this school year!
 
* The summer sports camp registration process is open. See the attachment for more information and to register for individual camps.
 
* The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office puts on a summer camp. If interested, see the flier for details and registration info.

Hello parents!

* NSCAS testing began yesterday. Today we are finishing the ELA assessments. Next week will be Math. Science will follow during the week of April 22 in grade 8 only. 
 
* Our track teams will open the season tomorrow afternoon at the Platteview Central Invitational. Field events begin at 2 PM. Running events begin at 3:00. See schedule below.
 
* With so many student-athletes participating in Track and Field, roster spots are limited for invitational events. Participation priority will go to those that are full participants at practice and have fulfilled classroom duties at school (completed homework, acceptable grades, etc.).
 
* The Springfield Memorial Library has two events this week. Check out the fliers if interested.

* NSCAS testing begins tomorrow in English/Language Arts. Students will take the state test with Mrs. Scanlan in Reading class and with Mrs. Gray in ELA class. Please encourage best effort with a restful night of sleep and a good breakfast.

Hi parents!
 
* As a reminder, there is NO SCHOOL this Friday, April 4. Classes resume on Monday at 9:10 AM.
 
* Today is Paraprofessional Day. Thanks to all of our paras at Platteview Central and throughout the district that support teaching and learning.
 
* Friday is School Librarian Day. Thanks to Mrs. Spiehs for her role in our library and media center.
 
* Annual state testing begins next week. These NSCAS tests will be taken in English/Language Arts and Math in both grades. 8th graders will also take a Science test. The schedule is:
 
  • Tuesday and Wednesday, April 8 and 9 – English / Language Arts
  • Tuesday and Wednesday, April 15 and 16 – Math
  • Wednesday, April 23 – Science (8th grade only)
 
** As with all state tests, these are reported for our district and can be used to compare with other districts within the area and state. We know our kids are learning a lot, but we also must show it when it counts! Please ensure attendance these days along with great sleep and a healthy breakfast. Best effort is a priority!
 
* We have some ESports Champs at PC! Please join me in congratulating our State Champion Mario Kart Team Competitors!

Good morning, parents! Happy Monday.

 
* There is NO SCHOOL this Friday due to Teacher In-Service. Classes resume on Monday, April 7, at 9:10 AM. Our final break of the school year is April 18 and 21. There will be NO SCHOOL on these days as we wrap around the holiday weekend.
 
* The Platteview Central music contest continues tomorrow afternoon and early evening with small group and individual performances. If your student is performing, feel free to stop by to watch.
 
* Annual state testing begins next week. These NSCAS tests will be taken in English/Language Arts and Math in both grades. 8th graders will also take a Science test. The schedule is:

Parking Lot at Dismissal; Music Contest

March 26, 2025 
 

Good morning, parents!

 
* The high school has altered some student parking to assist with visibility and student safety. This includes many more students parking in the front lot of the high school. At dismissal, there will be more congestion with vehicles and pedestrians. Our goal is to keep buses moving along, so please yield to those as you are exiting the parking area. Patience is key as this change takes place. 
 
* The Platteview Central music contest is this Friday. Once again, feel free to attend, but please be early for each performance to ensure you’re able to enter. The doors will be shut at performance time with no entry permitted.

* The track schedule is now available. Coaches will communicate any details necessary before next Monday’s first practice (March 31; immediately following school). 
 
* Tomorrow night, our choir and band will be in concert at 7 PM in the PHS auditorium. Regular junior high admission is taken with activity passes accepted. 
 
* On Friday, our music department will host the Platteview Central music contest at PHS during school hours. You are welcome to attend, but must be on time (actually early) in order to watch the performance.

Spring Break; Concert; Wrestling

March 13, 2025

*Spring break is next week (March 17-21). There will be NO SCHOOL. Classes will resume on Monday, March 24, at 9:10 AM.
 
* Our spring music concert is coming up. On Tuesday, March 25, the PC choir and band will perform on stage at 7 PM in the PHS auditorium. Regular admission will be charged with activity passes being accepted. 
 
*The wrestling season ended yesterday at Nebraska City. Our team placed 3rd out of 10 teams.
 
*The end-of-season wrestling pizza party has been moved to Tuesday, March 25. Uniforms must be returned to participate.

* Track practice will begin on Monday, March 31, immediately following school. Coaches will communicate more expectations soon. The full invite/meet schedule will be shared this week.
 
* Our Quiz Bowl team will compete tomorrow in the Trailblazer Conference championship at Wahoo.
 
* 7th Grade Parents –> 8th Grade registration sheets are due to Mrs. Svoboda tomorrow. If you have not completed or sent your signed purple registration sheet, please do so ASAP. 
 
* Congratulations to the wrestlers who earned recognition at the Trailblazer Conference meet on Saturday at Ralston. Our wrestlers finish the season tomorrow at Nebraska City. The season-ending pizza party will be this Friday. Uniforms are needed in order to participate.

9th Registration; Wrestling; BBall & Pizza; OPAA!

Good afternoon, parents!

* With the recent snow (and cold) days, Mrs. Svoboda has decided to push back the 9th grade registration deadline to Wednesday, February 26th. This gives everyone an opportunity to ask questions prior to turning in registration sheets. Please make sure all yellow registration sheets are signed and returned by the 26th or sooner!

* Yesterday’s wrestling triangular at Beatrice was officially canceled. No make up date is workable for all three schools. The next event is the Weeping Water invite next Friday at 10 AM.

* The girls basketball teams will have their end-of-season pizza party on Friday. Uniforms and practice jerseys must be returned in order to participate.

* Our SPCS food service provider, OPAA!, is hiring a Kitchen Manager. Check out the attached flier if interested.

Hey parents and happy Thursday (Friday)!

 
* Thanks for your engagement with Parent Teacher Conferences. Yesterday’s snow day was untimely, but thanks for making it work. Good to see many of you today!

* There is NO SCHOOL tomorrow and Monday, as we take a quick Comp Day and celebrate Presidents Day. Classes resume on Tuesday at 8:10 AM.
 
* Our girls basketball teams will finish up the season on Tuesday at Louisville. There is a B game at 4:30, followed by the A game. The season officially ends next Friday with the season ending pizza party (uniform turned in). 
 
* Our wrestlers are off to the Beatrice Triangular on Tuesday (Ralston too). Start time is 4:00 PM.
 
* Calling all 8th graders! The PHS Dance Team is hosting tryouts for the 2025-26 season from March 10-14, 2025. If interested, join the lunchtime meeting in Mr. Soneson’s classroom on February 26. PARENTS –> there will be an informational meeting on Monday, March 3, at 6 PM in the PHS media center.
