* Check out this new opportunity for those interested in the performance arts:
The Platteview High School chapter of the International Thespian Society (ITS), sponsored by Dr. Kersulov (high school ELA), is planning something a little different for their induction ceremony this spring. ITS is a club for high school students involved in the performing arts such as One Act, the musical, speech team, and other theatre activities.
This year, Dr. Kersulov would like to partner interested junior high students with current ITS members. Students will have the opportunity to learn more about theatre and work with a high school student to perform a short piece together at the induction ceremony in early May.
To learn more, interested 7th and 8th grade students are invited to attend a short informational meeting on Thursday, March 12th during Advisory. Mrs. Svoboda and Mrs. Clayton will take students to the auditorium, where Dr. Kersulov and the ITS members will give a brief presentation about the opportunity.
If your student is interested in attending the informational meeting, please have them let their Advisory teacher know. We’re excited to offer this opportunity for students who enjoy theatre and performing arts! Please send questions to Mrs. Clayton shannon.clayton@spcsne.org or Dr. Kersulov at michael.kersulov@spcsne.org
Have a great weekend!

A Night at Club Sin: An original play written by PHS faculty and students.
A Night at Club Sin is a 1920s jazz-noir mystery set in a glamorous Chicago nightclub during a stormy evening. Twin jazz performers, Viola and Olivia Summer, captivate the crowd until chaos erupts when Viola collapses, poisoned. As Detective Jones and eager rookie Collins investigate, secrets unravel among the club’s shady patrons: a crooked agent, a desperate club owner hiding a past, a mobster, and a jealous sister living in her twin’s shadow. Each flashback reveals betrayal, greed, and longing beneath the glitz of the stage. When Viola’s body vanishes, suspicion deepens, blurring the line between spotlight and sin.
